As future teachers, we are aware about the importance of innovation and creativy in the English subject. During the Master's Degree, we had a subject which dealt with this topic since it seems to be one of the main concerns of today's teachers.
One of the assignments we had to do as a part of this subject was a photovoice presentatio, which consists of a voice record played at the same time that an image is showed. We decided to did it about eating disorders since we consider that an increasing number of our students suffer from it these days.
Teenagers spend most of their time at the high school. This is why teachers get to know them well and know about their personal circumstances and how they normally behave. Therefore, we should be very attentive and intervene in case we detect suspicious actitudes and drastic behaviour changes in our students. We want to place emphasis on the decisive role of the teacher when it comes to detect -and act- in an eating disorder situation because, in most cases, an early detection can completely change the repercusions of the problem.
As follows, you will find a photovoice presentation in which an hypothetical student who suffers eating disorders explains first-hand how she feels.
We hope this information has been useful for you! 😘
