INCLUD-ED PROJECT

Today we are going to talk about a special microteaching session carried out in IDIIE lesson. Our lesson is based on the key concept "inclusion". It is focused on Includ-ed project, an innovative project developed between 2009 and 2011. It was fostered by the Spanish Ramón Flexa, a full university professor of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
Includ-ed project is an educational research project carried out by scientific, professors, parents, schools and other members of the educational community from different European countries.
The main objectives are the following:
  • To overcome inequalities
  • To promote social cohesion among students
  • To implement successful actions in schools
  • To foster an egalitarian education

In this day and age, there are even more schools which put into practise these successful actions in order to be inclusive, so the students can be a team. There are several activities to work with and achieve inclusion. Among them, the most common one is the dialectic literary circle, in which students have the opportunity to express themselves and being heard by the rest of their classmates. Moreover, parents can attend their children's lesson and can have an active role in class.

In order to explain this concept to our "students", we have created an original presentation which included an analogy between the classroom and the jungle. So we have chosen "The Jungle Book" to compare the diversity of animals in relation to students and to reflect the inclusion (when Mowgli was adopted by the wolves).
